Scene ID

Privacy Policy

Last updated November 4, 2026

Scene ID identifies movies and TV shows from short clips you record. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. In short: we keep your account and the titles you identify, and we delete your clips as soon as we've looked at them.

What we collect

How we use clips

To identify a scene, our server pulls a few still frames and the audio from your clip and turns any dialogue into text. The frames and text are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI service, which researches the scene, including by searching the web. We then look the title up on The Movie Database (TMDB) for posters, cast and streaming options.

We delete the clip, its frames and its audio from our server as soon as the identification finishes. We do not use your clips to train AI models.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers to run Scene ID, and share only what each needs:

We do not sell your personal information. Scene ID does not currently show ads. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your permission where the law requires it.

How long we keep data

Clips are deleted as soon as they're processed. Your account and history stay until you delete individual scenes or your account.

Your choices

Children

Scene ID is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and each account can only access its own history. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
